Light switch
The symbol on the rotary switch shows you that it is the light switch – and that you operate it by turning it.

Reflectors (also called cat's eyes) are located at the rear of the vehicle. They reflect the light of other vehicles and increase visibility. Check that they are present, clean and undamaged.

7. Press the start button
8. Select a gear
9. Release the brake – done.

3. Alpine symbol (winter tires)
4. Tread depth with TWI 1.6 mm
5. Check tire pressure (shown in the fuel flap)
1. Please follow the steps carefully
2. Don’t forget to set it back to automatic at the end
3. The symbols are similar in all vehicles
Procedure for the exercise:
1. Stop next to the car, parallel
2. Reverse until your B-pillar is level with the end of the other car
3. Turn the steering wheel fully to the right
4. When you are at 45 degrees to the curb, steer left
5. When the vehicle is straight, pull forward to align
!!!! keep turning your head all the time (lighthouse) !!!!
Procedure for the exercise:
1. Stop next to the car, parallel
2. Reverse until your B-pillar is level with the end of the other car
3. Turn the steering wheel fully to the right
4. When you are at 45 degrees to the curb, straighten the steering
5. Reverse straight back until the curb lines up with the door handle in the right mirror
6. Then steer left so the thick yellow line does not run onto the curb
7. When you are straight, pull forward to align
!!!! keep turning your head all the time (lighthouse) !!!!
Procedure for the exercise:
1. Stop straight next to the curb
2. Drive slowly and evenly about 30 cm away from the curb
3. Keep observing traffic all around (lighthouse)
4. When you are straight, drive another 3 m straight
5. Wait for what the examiner says
6. Observe traffic – continue driving
!!!! keep turning your head all the time (lighthouse) !!!!

Drive normally:
1. In town, drive briskly when permitted (not constantly 35–40 km/h)
2. In 30 km/h zones, really drive 30 km/h (except right-before-left or obstacles)
3. On priority roads, brisk but safe
4. Adjust in good time before hazard areas
5. Country road 100 km/h if possible
6. Motorway 130 km/h if possible
!!! DRIVING TOO SLOWLY LEADS TO FAILING !!!
Adjust speed to:
weather, traffic, road surface, visibility, load, vehicle
Important order:
1. Rear-view mirror
2. Side mirror(s)
3. Signal
4. Shoulder check
when stopping, turning, moving off, changing lanes, overtaking, parking, turning around
When a bus stops:
1. Bus signals right: pass carefully (slow down if needed)
2. Bus with hazard lights: walking pace, stop if necessary
3. Bus signals left: let it pull out
4. Oncoming bus with hazard lights: also at walking pace
Low beam, high beam, parking lights, daytime running lights, indicators, brake lights (parking brake and foot brake separately), tail lights, license plate light, reflectors
Check brake fluid, check brake discs, pressure on the hand brake lever, pressure on the foot brake lever, brake fluid, push the motorcycle and check the front brake, push the motorcycle and check the rear brake
Open the screw cap or check the sight glass. The motorcycle must be upright. Sight glass – fluid level must be between the markings. Dipstick – wipe the dipstick, insert it again, pull it out again and check whether the oil level is between the markings; if not, top up oil according to the owner’s manual .
Tension (see the rear swingarm), lubrication (check with your finger), wear (check how far the chain can still be tightened), check the sprockets
Check the level in the reservoir; the motorcycle must be upright
Check for oil leaks at the seals; when pressing, it should move smoothly and evenly
Tread depth (TWI indicator in the tread), tire pressure (shown on the sticker on the swingarm), damage, foreign objects, whether the tire is approved according to the registration document
Let the engine run, operate the kill switch, the engine must cut out – ok. WARNING: don’t do this for fun – only for the test. Using the kill switch is harmful to the ignition system.
You ride into the slalom at a steady ~30 km/h. You take the turns by pushing the bike. Ride straight towards the
first cone and don’t start offset.
Common mistakes:
no traffic observation before moving off, speed too low,
rolling off the throttle in the slalom, not pushing the bike, skipping a lane, knocking over cones.
You accelerate to 50 km/h and ride straight ahead. Shortly before, do traffic observation. Then pull the clutch and
roll past the first cone on the right. After that, push the bike with a counter-steering impulse to the left so
you pass the second cone on the left. Then return to the original line. When the bike is upright again, you can
brake.
Mistakes:
no traffic observation before moving off, starting speed too low, not pushing the bike, knocking
over cones, not returning to the original line.
You accelerate to 50 km/h; your line is slightly to the side of the first cone. About 10 m before it, pull the clutch
and brake briefly and firmly with both brakes so the fork dives. At the first cone, release both brakes;
the clutch stays pulled in, then swerve with a counter-steering impulse (about 30–40 km/h). Afterwards, return to the
original line and only then let the clutch out again.
Mistakes:
no traffic observation before moving off, starting speed too low, not pushing the bike, knocking over cones, not returning to
the original line, not using both brakes (except with integral braking).
You accelerate to 50 km/h and ride straight ahead. Shortly before, do traffic observation, then close the throttle, pull the clutch and immediately
brake briefly and firmly with both brakes to a stop. Keep the motorcycle straight, look ahead
(with ABS, don’t pump).
Mistakes:
no traffic observation before moving off, speed too low, not using both brakes
(except integral), braking too cautiously, looking down, motorcycle not straight/stable, not releasing a locking wheel.
You ride a total of 4 circles in 2nd gear. The first circle is for stabilizing and has a diameter of about 10 m. The lean angle
must be visible. Pay attention to where you look (towards the center of the circle). Then you exit the circle in the direction of travel. On the
practice ground, the circle ride is done in both directions.
Mistakes:
no traffic observation before moving off,
wobbling, deviating from the circular line, no visible lean angle.
You ride the long slalom at a constant ~30 km/h. There are 4 lanes with 9 m spacing and 2 lanes with 7 m spacing. Before starting,
you do traffic observation. The speed stays steady throughout; in the last (tighter) lanes you have to
push more.
Mistakes:
no traffic observation before moving off, changing speed, riding around a cone.
You ride straight for about 15–25 m at walking speed (about 5 km/h on the speedometer). Look straight ahead.
Maintain the speed with a feel for the interaction of throttle, clutch and brake.
Mistakes:
no traffic observation when moving off, too fast, putting a foot down, deviating from the line.
You ride the slalom at walking speed (about 5 km/h on the speedometer). Always look into the gap
to ride through next, not at the cone. Maintain the speed with a feel for the interaction of throttle, clutch and
brake.
Mistakes: no traffic observation when moving off, too fast, putting a foot down, knocking over cones, wrong gaze direction (looking at the cone),
deviating from the line.
You start, stop, and start again. Before the first start you do traffic observation. Your feet must be
either put down twice on the left and then twice on the right (or the other way around). The very first start does not yet count
as a stop: You set off, stop (e.g., left foot), set off again, stop left again, set off, stop right,
set off, stop right again. Then you continue riding – exercise finished.
Mistakes:
no traffic observation,
wrong foot sequence (not 2× left + 2× right), stopping too fast/untidy, unstable footing, pushing the motorcycle along.
Drive normally:
1. In built-up areas, drive briskly if allowed (not constantly 35–40 km/h)
2. In a 30 km/h zone, really drive 30 km/h (except for right-before-left or obstacles)
3. On priority roads, brisk but safe
4. Adjust in good time before hazard spots
5. On rural roads, 100 km/h if possible
6. On the motorway, 130 km/h if possible
